ARTS & CRAFTS BUNGALOW

the story

This beautiful home on Capitol Hill in Seattle, appealed to our client with its 1920's charm and mixture of casual Arts and Crafts style with a formal Federalist trim detail in the main rooms. The bones were there, but he needed to make a house a home.  A new master suite was added on the second floor that raised the roof to the east and provided several windows, as well as a small deck, to take in the Cascade Mountain views.  The main floor gained a new kitchen, media room, powder room, and new open stairwell.  The richly detailed trim was carefully matched and extended throughout so that one can barely tell the new from the old. New lighting, furnishings, rugs and artwork were selected in response to the homeowner's preference for an eclectic mix of traditional and Arts and Crafts styles. Happily the outcome feels as though it evolved over a number of years. Just as we all had hoped for.
